American Idol - why does everyone make a big deal about...?

...everything IRRELEVANT to the SINGING competition? everyones like, oh yeah, Adams gay and i love/hate him for it - hello!!! what does it matter what he likes? singing competition remember? and with Kris its "oh yeah hes a little church boy so obviously those against gays are gonna vote for him" - again, who cares?!?! so he's an active christian, big whoop thats awesome and all but totally irrelivant!!!!!!!! why can't people just focus on what matters! they are both amazing singers and going to go far, i like them both equally but dont you think its getting a bit rediculous? people are saying this is the worst season ever, the only reason i SOMEWHAT agree is because of all the rumours and cr*ap going around and influencing their chances of winning. i know your wondering where is the question here, basically what do you think about this? do you agree that its just getting to be too much? and that people should just focus on the singing? tell me what you think. i will choose a best answer.
