GUYS AND GIRLS PLEASE HELP?

I really like this guy hes in my homeroom we talk sometimes not allot he makes me laugh allot. And everyone says he likes me but i want to know how to tell if he likes me i wanna tell him that i like him but i am shy cause the last time i did that the guy lied and said he liked me but he did not and we went out for a week i don't want this to happen again so please help!!
